By Douglas Schofield
Let me start by saying KILLING PACE is a Kick-Ass novel about a Kick-Ass Woman. Lisa,Laura or Sarah take your pick they’re all quite dangerous.
When I first saw the title of this book “Killing Pace” I thought of some sort of serial killer on a killing spree. Not so however. It’s Laura Pace the bad guys are after. A U.S. Customs agent that stumbles into an international crime organization that involves dishonest UN investigators, bad cops the Mafia and illegal baby adoptions not to mention the smuggling of knock off products into the U.S. As she gets deeper and deeper into her investigation she realizes she must be very careful as to who she trust.
A fast “PACE” (was that a pun?) novel .This story does not lack suspense, action or mystery. It was easy to sit down and read this one with its never-ending action. The fact that you basically have a (Very believable) no-nonsense smart tough female crime fighter only makes it better. The author put the story together in a very clever way. Starting with Lisa (suffering from amnesia) who knows there’s more to the story she’s being told about herself.
I don’t agree with the few reviews I’ve seen. They say this book is choppy and the story is hard to follow.I think it fits together very well and if you enjoy Mystery/Thriller/ types full of suspense that make you think you’ll enjoy Killing Pace. I’m pretty sure this is the beginning of a new series starring Laura Pace. The thing is the next book could either be a sequel or prequel for that matter. There is something about this protagonist that the author alludes to about her past. She did something that made her a semi famous hero in her law enforcement career.Unless I missed it he didn’t divulge what it was. Or the way the book ends it sets up perfectly for a new book to see what’s next in the life of Laura Pace.
